Sometimes it seems like God is absent from our world (and maybe from your life). It seems He has simply given up on us and is letting us destroy one another...one riot, one mass shooting, one bombing, and one nation at a time. In fact, with all the evil around us, it is hard to see how He can even exist. But maybe you're not looking or listening intently enough. Maybe you might not want to see Him or hear His voice, but I have just one thing to say: God. Loves. You.
That's right...instead of trying to persuade you of His existence by giving you the plethora of arguments that are available–which you are not hearing either way–I'm here to tell you that God loves you unconditionally. I'm assuming, in fact, I'm asserting that God indeed does exist and that He definitely does love you, no matter what you may think of Him; no matter if you think He does not even exist. His love for you is not dependent on you knowing it—but your love (or lack thereof) for Him is dependent on you knowing of His love for you...which is why I am telling you this fact now. "But why, and how does God show me that He loves me? My life is a mess," you say. Well...
Why?
Why does God love you? God loves you because He is love (1 John 4:16). God loves you because He is all good (Psalm 119:68). God loves you because He created you in His image (Genesis 1:27), so you can be able to live, love, worship, feel, reason, play, enjoy music, enjoy your family, etc. God loves you because He truly does want what is good for you (i.e., salvation), despite your thinking otherwise (1 Timothy 2:3-4). God loves you because He knows what He wants to, and can, accomplish in your life: to make you Holy and bring you to Himself to live in everlasting love, peace, and joy (1 Peter 1:14-16; Ephesians 3:18-19). God loves you because you are the only person he made like you; special and gifted in a unique way to fulfill His purposes in this life. And God loves you because it is in His nature to love you deeply and unconditionally.
How?
How does God show you He loves you? God shows you He loves you by having sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for you–for all of us–even while we were (and are) sinners that deserve punishment for our wrongs (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:4-5; Romans 5:8). God shows you He loves you be sending you people who tell you His truth without compromise (Matthew 28:18-20). God shows you that He loves you by seeking you out until your dying breath, helping you to see the Truth (Luke 19:10; 1 Timothy 2:4). God shows you He loves you by providing the way to eternal life through Jesus, thereby escaping the punishment of eternal hell apart from Him. God shows you He loves you by sending people who help you in a time of need. He shows you He loves you by sending an encouraging word with a friend when you're down. And, yes, God shows you He loves you even by allowing you to freely reject Him, yet still giving you a chance–or two, or three, or more–to repent and follow Him (1 John 4:9-10, 15).
Now...
You see, I know you have your reasons for rejecting God and His Word...everyone does at some point. In fact, the Bible says that no one actually seeks after God (Romans 3:10-11); we are so depraved that we don't naturally seek after God...He seeks after us because He loves us. God. Loves. You. The truth of the matter is that God seeks you out until the very end; until the reasons you have for rejecting Him crumble under the weight and beauty of His perfect love for you...or until you die having rejected the Savior He sent. Either way, it's your choice. God will never force Himself upon you. He has given us enough evidence of His existence, and enough evidence of His love for us...of His love for you. And, yes, even in the midst of all the evil we see today, His love is still plainly seen...especially in His people, all believers. All you have to do is stop, think, reflect, seek, pray, believe, repent, and receive His Son, Jesus Christ into your life today (John 3:16; Matthew 10:32; 1 John 4:15; Romans 10:9).
Now that I've told you He Loves You, what are you going to do about it? Remember, today is a gift; tomorrow is not promised.
